Overview
Sam joined ECG as a consultant in 2011. He excels at analyzing client needs, planning, and transforming policy into practice. He is also skilled with using Banner and Datatel student information systems, and implementing system enhancements to improve processing outcomes.
Previous Experience and Skills
Sam has worked in financial aid for over 20 years. He began his financial aid career at Portland State University (PSU), where, over a 16-year period, he moved from a counselor/assistant director position to director of financial aid, and ultimately to executive director of admissions, financial aid, registration and records.
Following PSU, Sam moved into lender services and was a vice president for Nelnet, Inc. In that role, he assisted with developing pipeline opportunities, demonstrated software products, and managed client relations for schools located in the northwest region (AK, ID, OR, and WA).
Most recently, Sam served as an interim financial aid director at Eastern Oregon University where he successfully implemented the Federal Direct Loan module in Banner. He was also a consultant at Southwestern Law School, where he assisted with implementing Datatel Colleague, analyzed workflow and staffing needs, and trained new staff.
