Overview
Rhonda's extensive knowledge of the student loan programs and her understanding of compliance issues help support ECG clients with streamlining their financial aid processing. She is also skilled in training personnel on technical systems and various financial aid software programs.
Highlights of Consulting Projects
Rhonda joined ECG as a consultant in 2007. In her recent engagement work, she managed multiple projects for a large for-profit university including:
| • | Developing solutions to improve business processes, and financial aid processing and efficiency. |
| • | Managing a large file review/reconstruction project, which included comprehensive project plan development, staff training, weekly team meetings and ongoing problem solving to ensure federal compliance, analysis of root causes, as well as adherence to project goals. |
Prior to those projects, Rhonda served as interim director for a client undergoing multiple compliance challenges. She successfully led the financial aid operations through these challenges, which included troubleshooting and coordinating enhancements to the school's Datatel setup. Her additional consulting projects include:
| • | Loan processing and verification for two- and four-year public and private institutions. |
| • | Multi-year file reviews and reconstructions. |
| • | Creating and updating financial aid policies and procedures manuals. |
| • | Providing interim management for a four-year college to ensure compliance with federal regulations, mentor and train financial aid staff, and improve operational efficiencies. |
| • | Conducting Title IV reconciliation for grants and student loans. |
| • | Performing operational reviews for school clients. |
Previous Experience and Skills
Rhonda acquired 17 years of experience at the University of Nebraska, Nelnet, and Southeast Community College (SCC). She is familiar with the systems enhancements and changes in financial aid from both a campus and lender perspective. As the associate director of financial aid at SCC, Rhonda was responsible for administering the loan programs at all three campuses, as well as Datatel implementation and staff training. Her other previous experience includes:
| • | Validating transfer credits from foreign academic records. |
| • | Managing the student loan origination program. |
| • | Providing technical assistance to borrowers, schools, and college officials. |
| • | Coordinating the disbursement of financial aid proceeds. |
| • | Monitoring student withdrawals and Return to Title IV (R2T4) refund calculations. |
